At first glance, the position looked almost hopelessly complex.
The โ must constantly guard e5, while Black can rely on his sturdy fallback move โ โf4 โ opening a safe path for the โ to slip away (f5).
Itโs as if Black somehow manages to survive here, despite being vastly outnumbered.
๐ก๐ก๐ก Then we remembered the puzzle with the kingsโ dance.
The composer placed the white โ on its home square, a detail that might suggest (๐ค) itโs there merely to make the position legal โ โthe king has to be somewhereโ after all.
But no โ quite the opposite!
The โ isnโt idle; itโs the hero of this composition, carrying the entire plan almost single-handedly (in the main branch of the solution).
With the quiet move โd2!, the king blocks its own left โ and grants the black โ freedom to move โ while simultaneously fixing its gaze on d3, where the right โ may soon appear.
Itโs not a threatโฆ not yet. f4 is open now.
If Black plays his usual defense, โf4, hoping to escape to f5, the โ will join โ’s progress .
And if Black chooses โd4 instead?
Weโll leave that discovery to you ๐

Most of White’s pieces are in their original positions ๐
And also: there is a โ here and she is strong and has many options – it is advisable to invest in investigating her moves,
But still, other directions must also be taken into account.
